Warning(s):  Xenophilia, Crocodile!Hikari

“Hey, Hikari, you think I’d be a cool animal or something?” Right says this out of the blue.  Hikari isn’t exactly sure where it came from, or how long Right’s been stewing on it, but it is enough to make him put his detective novel down.  Right’s not even paying much attention just staring at his hand, flexing it, making half formed fists; he doesn’t say anything else past his initial question.  Right’s waiting, then.  For Hikari to answer.

Hikari sighs, bookmarking his page before placing his book down on the bed.  “A dog,” he answers.  Plain and simple.  Right makes a face at that, rolling over onto his stomach and looking at Hikari from over his arm.

“That’s so boring though!” Right whines.  “Isn’t there something cooler?”

“Cooler?  A dog can be cool.”

Right is already sitting up, sheets sliding down and pooling in the small of his back.  Hikari can still see the bruise marks from last night peeking above the sheets and it’s enough to send a flash of guilt as well as embarrassment through him.  His claws flex some, and he wonders if he had still been a bit too rough.  He had been trying to keep his strength in check last night, though even then Right certainly hadn’t been complaining.  The opposite of it, really.  Hikari still makes a mental note to be gentler next time.

“Yeah,” Right continues, snapping Hikari from his thoughts, “but it’s so typical, like.”  Right makes some broad gesture with his hand.  “Like, if we were gonna by typical then you’d be a cat!”

Hikari opens his mouth to say that he is definitely a crocodile, not a cat, but stops short when he realizes how obvious that was.  Right is also making a point, which he continues.

“And obviously you’re a croc so that doesn’t really fit, and Tokacchi’s a falcon which definitely doesn’t fit him if we’re going by that,” Right finishes this all up with a pout.  It looks like Hikari’s going to have to concede defeat here.

“Then what do you think you are?” he asks, already moving to sling one arm over Right’s back to pull him in close.  Right doesn’t even resist when Hikari tugs at him.  Instead, he takes advantage of the movement and wiggles onto his side so that he can bury his face into Hikari’s smooth under belly scales.  Hikari lets out a pleased rumble at that.

“Maaaaybe,” Right drawls, “I was thinking like…a tiger?”

“A tiger.”

“Yeah!  Strong, cool and—“

Hikari tries to imagine that, and all he can bring up are images of his cousins.  One hunched over a desk almost twenty-four seven and the other still in his awkward juvenile stage.  Overall with Hikari’s personal experience with tigers, just…he couldn’t see it.  Not exuberant, out going Right who didn’t fit the solitude of tigers.

“I can’t see it,” Hikari says.

“Why?  Too vicious?”

“Too solitary.  That’s not you.”

Right attempts wrapping his arms around Hikari and cuddles closer.  Hikari returns the gesture.

“Then…hrmmm…Panda?”

“That seems to be more Kagura.”

“A shark then!”

“Are you just picking that because it’s cool?” at this Hikari playfully pinches Right’s side.  Right yelps, his own response being to bite down at Hikari’s chest.  His blunt teeth don’t do much to Hikari’s scales, and it tickles more than anything.

“No,” Right mumbles.  “But then what do you think, personally?”

“Prairie dog.”

“That still has dog in it!” Right smacks him this go around.  Hikari chuckles, pulling Right into a tighter hug.  “Choose something else, and maybe not something so tiny!” Right smacks Hikari one last time just to be sure.

Hikari’s laughter doesn’t subside, “Then how about a fox?”

“Seriously?”

With how Hikari has Right effectively trapped now there’s not much the other can do.  Hikari counts it as a tiny victory since usually he’s kept flat on his back by Right who always thinks lying on top of him is the best thing in the world.  Which it kind of is but it gets awfully uncomfortable after a while.

“How about a lion then?” Hikari throws out there.  He could see a lion.

Right makes a humming noise.  A loud, exaggerated one to show that Right’s putting some serious thought into it.  “Okay,” and Right leaves it at that.

“Just okay?”

“I mean, better than a dog.”

Right then contents himself by trying to erase every bit of space between them and settling for a nap.  Typical Right, Hikari thinks, and he reaches for his book so he can continue reading it.
